Mountain Spring: A new painting and the week ahead

Mountain Spring: A new painting and the week ahead

Spring is officially here—and I named this new piece Mountain Spring because it perfectly captures how I usually feel about this season in the mountains.

Green has always symbolized growth and renewal to me, but up here, spring still holds a lot of darkness. It’s not the peppy, floral, bright kind of springtime art you might expect.

There are still snowbanks as tall as I am outside our house. It snows most days. And while I do love spring skiing, it still very much feels like winter here. That’s not necessarily a bad thing—but this painting is meant to show that the change of seasons is slow... like most things in life.

I truly loved creating this piece. I played with some new background techniques that I’m excited to keep exploring. It’s been so freeing to paint without the intention of representing a specific landscape—just seeing what unfolds has been such a joy.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you. This blog is still new to me, but I’m hoping to create a space where you can slow down from a hectic day and chat about art, creativity, and life in a fun, laid-back way.

I’d love to hear what you think. Feel free to shoot me a DM or drop a comment with your thoughts, ideas, or just to say hi.

I have a busy week ahead with friends visiting, gallery work for Near & Far, and a weekend I’ve SO been looking forward to. Lately, my workdays have shifted toward curating art proposals, chatting with clients, and painting when I can steal a quiet moment. It’s actually been such a fun change of pace—and in a surprising way, it’s reminded me of my old days in corporate tech (but way more fun 😊 ).

I'm also heading to Vail to ski again later this week, which I haven't done in SO long - definitely looking forward to that!

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead—chat soon!

Maryam
